Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a remote class of 18 Kindergarten students. My colleague, Ms. T, teaches a remote class of 16 Kindergarten students. Our students love to learn and eagerly participate in our class meetings and small group sessions as well. I'm so proud of what a great job they are doing with remote learning this year.

My Project

Hello!

Ms. T and I currently have a combined 34 Kindergarten students learning from home.

Most students do not have a quiet place to partake in live school lessons, and they sit in their kitchen or family room while other family members hustle and bustle about their day. Our students are not only distracted by the busy environment, but they are also unable to hear us as we teach them such foundational skills like the alphabet letter sounds. These letter sounds, along with all the content they are learning, are the foundation for any and all future learning and unfortunately so many students are missing out on valuable educational time simply because they can't hear us (their teachers) well.

With the use of headphones, we are certain all the students in our class will be able to participate and engage in lessons effectively. We know we can provide them with a more equitable education by giving them the simple gift of headphones.

Also, in this project, we've added dry erase markers and wet erase markers, the two most essential at-home learning tools. (Currently, most of the students' markers, which were given to them from a previous Donor's Choose project, have dried out.)
