Head Start Butterfly Activity

My Project

We are exploring the world of insects and it would be awesome to show the children how caterpillars can grow and transform into beautiful butterflies. When the butterflies have come out of their cocoons, we will have a butterfly festival where the kids can enter a netted tent with watermelon on a stick and allow the butterflies to land on the watermelon so they can observe their beauty right before their eyes.

We will read and explore the children's book, The Very Hungry Butterfly, while watching the caterpillars grow and transform into butterflies.

We will also do arts and crafts for the month and make paper butterflies for the classroom and create beautiful butterflies for the moms and dads of the school for the children to take home and share with their families.
