My Project

Book clubs allow students choice in reading while getting to be part of a small community within their classroom. My students all come from low-income households, and my school is a Title 1 school. Our resources are minimal.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of texts that focus on mental health issues.

When students are allowed to choose their books, they are more engaged. When students are a part of book clubs, they meet weekly to discuss what they have read and any topics that are brought up in the text. My students will benefit greatly from discussing books that focus on mental health issues.
