My Students

My students attend a Title I funded school in Queens with a large English Language Learner population. Each year, many students enroll in our school after coming from their home country. Our school is the first place that many of these children visit upon coming to the United States. It is a wonderful place to learn because our school community recognizes the talents and abilities of every child and supports our newly immigrant population by providing supports for students and their families. The disabilities affecting my students range from speech impairment, language delays and learning disabilities.

My Project

For this project I am requesting a document camera to share materials with my remote students.

I would be able to use this during my live instruction to model math strategies such as addition, reading strategies such as decoding and writing skills such as elaborating on a topic.

Each day I set up Google Meets with my class and small groups. My biggest challenge is that my students who rely on modeling and repetition can not watch me teach and model at the same time. The document camera would allow me to teach my students as close to our old normal as possible. This camera will also give students access to books to work on guided reading in our small groups.
