My Students

My students are bright and caring children. They love to work together and learn in active ways! Our school is arts-integrated, which means we teach academic concepts and standards through the arts including drama, visual arts, creative movement, and creative writing. We teach and foster collaboration as a key cornerstone of our curriculum. Because of this collaboration, we practice inclusion for students with special needs. I also teach students who are learning English as their second language.

Our students learn how to work as a group through the creative process.

They take pride in their work and love to celebrate each other's accomplishments. Our school is such a positive environment!

My Project

My school does not have a dedicated PE teacher, so I get to teach it along with all the academic subjects. I love to move and exercise, but I am embarrassed to admit that teaching PE is not my strength. The PE game book and downloadable lessons will help me with planning for my weekly PE session with my students.

I want to teach isolated skills in a stations format and then play a whole class game.

The jump ropes, cones, and rhythm sticks will be for the stations. Luckily, through a previous DonorsChoose.org project, I already have some balls to use for this, as well.

I am excited to have more options for PE and to create a dedicated PE time for my students to develop skills and have fun!
