Having a ball? My students deserve to have one too. I am a physical education teacher for grades k-6 in the New York City school system.Our school has a nice gym but it also serves as an auditorium and part of the lunchroom. This is not the problem. The thing we are lacking the most is equipment. Our classes are oversize and there is not enough equipment for all the children to enjoy. Having two children of my own- I supplied as many basketballs and soccer balls allowed not be missed in my house. Having physical fitness keeps children healthy, teaches them how to cooperate with each other and get along. It also makes them do better in school. The neighborhood I work in is filled with hard working families and the school is the only safe outlet for the students to play, get exercise and have fun. Having this equipment will benefit everyone.
