My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free lunch. Our Brooklyn school is ethnically diverse. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. All students come in with a need to feel welcomed and loved throughout the day. Our teachers are here to provide them with a second home and a sense of security as they enter the doors to our building and individual classrooms.

My Project

These materials will enrich the lives of all our students. They will be able to learn about and critically analyze current events around the world. Furthermore, subscriptions to Scholastic News will allow the students to enrich their literary lives and enhance their reading skills. The students will be excited to read and motivated to reach their reading goals. In addition, our students will have an opportunity to have a conversation and share their opinions about current events read about in Scholastic News. With your help, we will have students that are college and career ready by the end of third grade! Thank you!
