My Students

Imagine that classroom where the students want to be there. They want to expand their minds and learn something new each day.

My students live in various urban settings throughout the City of Philadelphia where they come to school and receive breakfast and lunch daily.

My school is also a Title I school, where we strive to provide our students with as many services as possible.

Some days are tougher than others for my students, but I provide a safe, respectful and stable environment for them to learn. They look forward to coming to school to see "what fun things" we are going to learn. They are a great bunch of kids!

My Project

Incorporating new teaching tools to aid student achievement is always a good thing. My students would benefit using the Califone Listening Center. Listening centers are used with multimedia and technology-oriented computer applications. I would customize learning situations ranging from classroom-wide audio amplification to wireless assisted listening.

This listening center will support my students who are auditory learners.

The center would be used for small group instruction to support students with phonemic awareness, vocabulary, read-alongs, and comprehension. There is a built-in microphone that will record student responses for later playback and will help monitor student progress with lessons and reading practice. It is also included in the English Language Arts portion of the Common Core State Standards.

This grant would be beneficial for my students’ achievement in literacy. Your donations would be greatly appreciated!
