Every child deserves a champion; an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.
Our students, although one hundred percent of them live in poverty, come to school everyday excited to learn.
One hundred percent of our students receive free lunches. They deserve the best, even though they don't even have their basic needs taken care of everyday.
Many days it breaks my heart. All I can do is provide a top notch experience for them so they can go on to empower our world.
My Project
Our students are from very low income families and their basic needs are not always taken care of at home. They do receive free breakfast and lunch everyday plus a food bag to take home on Fridays. Our lunch at school, due to Covid 19 protocols, is at 1:10 everyday. Students start to become hungry way before lunch is served.
Now that a new year has started, they will come back hungry, tired and unmotivated.
If a child's basic needs are not taken care of, research says they cannot focus on learning. We would appreciate you help. Thanks!
