My Students

My class of students willingly accepted the challenge to take an innovative and inaugural team-taught English and U.S. History class! They get doses of historical facts and information in U.S. History class and the informational and literary texts that coincide with that historical era in English class!

My students are achievers that accepted the challenge!

They attend a rural high school where 51% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The class is comprised of diverse ethnic backgrounds and diverse ideas, and all aspire to attend college.

My Project

Students have gained valuable skills and information from researching their self-selected history fair topic that relates to the theme Triumph & Tragedy in History. Topics range from the murder of Emmett Till to facial transplants, and students have the option of presenting their research as a website, documentary, paper, museum exhibit or performance.

They will get to experience the culmination of their hard work, research and creativity by competing with students across the state in the National History Day-Mississippi competition on the morning of March 23, 2019.

By providing lodging, students will be rested and ready to compete and present!
