This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Even in first grade students are required to have an in-depth use of technology in their education. My goal is to have technology readily available in our classroom so my students can meet the standards set for them.

My first graders are like sponges; they absorb everything in their environment by experiencing it.

They love to learn! I want them to have more in-class experiences with technology to enhance their learning and teach them valuable skills for college and the workplace. While the rigor of educational standards has been raised, the materials are not always available to help students meet these more intense standards, especially at a lower income charter school such as ours. Our school is working towards making technology more available to students and teachers, but is still lacking in making technology easily accessible in classrooms.

My Project

A mobile media cart would be a concise, organized storage for the multimedia devices I have been collecting for my class. The media cart would keep everything in one easily accessible place, where I could pull out the cart, plug it in, and go! Technology in our classroom would be much more readily available on a daily basis if the projector, document camera, etc. were all set up and stored in one easy-to-move space. The use of technology in our daily lessons and activities would enhance my students' learning in so many ways and across all of the curriculum!

Technology in the classroom these days is a must if we expect our children to eventually compete on a global scale.

Building blocks for college readiness and career preparation start with my first graders. Please help us be prepared to meet the world that awaits us!
