My Project

Matching chairs will streamline the music classroom environment, reducing distractions and visual clutter. This will support my students with sensory challenges by giving them less visual information to process. The soft gray color was intentionally chosen for the same purpose. The wobble cushions can be used with a chair or on the floor, and easily moved around as needed.

Accommodating the tactile and vestibular senses is critical for my sensory seekers who need more sensory input for regulation; these flexible seating options support increased focus and opportunities for my students to engage in the music making experience!

The sensory tubes are customizable and can be filled with items to extend the current lesson or theme. During the construction unit for example, my kids would love to shake objects like large screws and nuts/bolts that are safely secured inside the tube. Students could use these as visual sensory tubes, or as a musical shaker. They could choose commonly found objects, like small pine cones or pebbles to make their own instrument!

Thanks for considering a donation to this project! Collectively, the chairs, cushions, and sensory tubes will give my students the opportunity to create music while meeting them where they are and accommodating their sensory needs.
