Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are four years old. For many, this is their first time in school. They are primarily English Language Learners. They are excited and love learning.

Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.

My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues lacks many materials necessary in order to run rich classroom environments. Often we are limited due to a lack of resources.

My Project

Our school is fortunate enough to have a nice outdoor play space. However, we do not have outdoor toys. Children need materials to help develop gross motor skills. This includes jumping, balance, throwing, and catching just to name a few.

Children develop both physical and social skills when they engage in meaningful play with their friends.

Some things that children enjoy are playing catch, bouncing a ball, and playing kickball. These are great games to build teamwork and communication skills. Our school has eight classes, so these materials will benefit more than just my class. They can be shared with all of the children!
