This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
This year I have a classroom full of 20 energetic kindergartener's that love learning and soaking up information about animals. My students expressed an interest in having a class pet and learning how to take care of an animal. With spring coming up, I thought what a wonderful experience it would be for my students to have the experience to hatch baby chicks, watch them grow, and learn how to take care of them. These materials will help me teach about the life cycle of a chick, the responsibilities of taking care of an animal, writing nonfiction texts about our chicks, and giving them a real life experience that they may not have the opportunity to have.
