Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a brand new Pre-K center that provides developmentally appropriate practices and a safe environment that is conducive for learning. Our mission is to provide opportunities for our students to learn and grow through authentic experiences that will build a solid foundation for their academic success. The program we provide our students, incorporates interactive activities, student-inquiry based lessons, and appropriate social/emotional experiences that target the holistic development of a preschooler.

Our school is located in a low-income area that strives to provide support to our students, as well as their families.

We are continuing to build relationships and incorporate the cultures of our students and their families into our everyday instruction.

My Project

The chick hatching educator will make a tremendous impact on my students understanding of life cycles. The educator will discuss life cycles, as well as provide a chick hatching kit that includes an incubator, 12 incubated eggs, and a brooder box. The students will get to observe the eggs and the hatching within a week. We live in an urban community, which lacks the opportunity to witness the development of a chick. Providing my students with the opportunity to tend to eggs before they hatch and then witnessing the miracle of life will be a rewarding experience that my students deserve to have.
