Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a low income school, but we are exceptional in every way. We have a 7 Star Distinction that only four other schools have to earn in Houston Independent School District, which is comprised of 300 schools. This shows the dedication that my students have to achieve success in their lives.

I have been able to have 90% of my students to become successful on the 8th grade Math STAAR test despite what other may consider a bad stacked hand.

Most schools in my district have only around 60% pass the 8th grade Math STAAR test. My students been able to overcome low income families, extreme family issues, and negative influences every day. I know that my students want the best for themselves; therefore, I put my best foot forward every day. Hopefully, everyone is able to see that I teach a exceptionable set of students and they need the best education available.

My Project

After Harvey hit our area, we lost some our school supplies. I want my students to be able to experience a close as possible normal year. I also want my students to have the best education as possible. The laptop, hard drive, spinners, markers, colored pencils, and drawing glove will help me and our school make education up to the level that my students are used to being taught. These items will also allow me to bring technology, group projects, and higher-order thinking lesson into my daily routines. If funded, I will be able to ensure that my students will be ready to achieve this year and be productive 9th graders next year.
