The kids who take my class come from a rural economically disadvantaged area.
These kids are fantastic kids, but local economics often get in the way of their educational opportunities.
Every kid in our district gets free breakfast due to the poverty in our community.
Our kids bang up against adversity every day, and most days they crush it. They deal with their own problems, their parents' problems, and their schools' problems. However, problems caused by the lack of school funding are not problems any teenager should have to overcome. Please help me remove at least one stumbling block from their path.
My Project
It is hard to find a more popular series of books than the Harry Potter series. As proof, I had the entire set in paperback edition and also in hardback edition. So many students have borrowed them (without my knowledge) and wandered away with them, that now I have a ragtag bunch of Harry Potter books with missing novels from the series.
Please help solve the case of Harry Potter and the Missing Novels!
It is a great series and my kids love them. However, not having the entire series has proven to be an altogether too frequently occurring obstacle for my students.
These books are often used as author study books. For the project, students choose an author they would like to study and at least three books to read that are written by that author. J.K. Rowling is a fantastic option for this project. Please help me restore my missing books!
