My Project

Our school library was recently re-opened and staffed with a certified librarian in September 2023. Last year, this space has transformed from an oversized storage space for electronic devices due to the pandemic into an amazing space where students feel safe to rest, read, study, socialize, play a board game, or meet with their student organization.

This Harlem library aims to create a space where all students feel safe to explore and inquire their personal passions while building community.

Libraries are so much more than just silent spaces for study, they serve the community they find themselves in by providing the space and materials necessary to engage and develop the learners therein.

The materials requested will allow students to explore and create community. The puzzle and puzzle organizers not only exposes students to the titles of banned books, but also gives students a chance to work toward a common goal! The hand sanitizer and poster mounts will also help keep our community safe and beautiful.
