My Project

An important goal we have at our school is to expose our students to different languages. Having bilingual books in the classroom fosters inclusivity, promotes cultural understanding, and creates a more welcoming environment for all our students from diverse linguistic backgrounds, allowing them to feel valued and seen while also preparing them for a globalized world.

I would love this independent way for students to explore language during choice time.

This collection of books from Habbi Habbi is a bilingual Chinese/English book set with a read aloud pen that will read out the words in both languages to encourage both literacy and language study. These books include themes for young children to learn such as common first phrases, numbers, family members, and home items. As my students are still learning to read and recognize English letters as well, the read-aloud pens also have the option for English only as they explore the books. These books will help my students form a natural love of books and reading, as well as increase their language library. These books can inspire my students to continue exploring the world of literacy and language, and also build up their knowledge so that they feel confident in themselves.
