My Students

I recently moved to the big city of New Orleans, Louisiana and took a job teaching at a French Immersion Charter School in Orleans Parish.

I chose to teach at this school because of how incredibly diverse the student population is.

This year I teach Reading (English) to 30 Kindergartners in the French Immersion program. I also teach 75 gifted students in 2nd-5th grade. I incorporate my love for STEAM as much as I can, providing interactive projects that we work on as a class community. I am often blown away by my students’ creativity, and look to them and their interests to drive my instruction.

My goal as a teacher is to introduce my students to as many of the possibilities, opportunities, and experiences that I can. I strive to create fun, hands-on learning experiences that my students will never forget.

My Project

Gardening has been a passion of mine for some time now, and I can’t wait to share my love for plants with all of my students.

This project, if funded, will help me start an indoor garden in my classroom.

We will use this table top grow lab to start our seeds under the appropriate temperatures and lighting. We will be able to monitor and measure how much water, light, uand nutrients our plants are getting. We will track our plants’ growth, keep a daily garden journal, and be able to compare plant data. This grow lab will help many children learn about the wonderful art of gardening.
