This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of English Language Learners that represent various cultures and languages from across the globe: Mexico, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Ecuador, Yemen, Senegal, and Mali to name a few. This group of K-3 English Language Learners resides in the south Bronx, which has one of the highest poverty rates in the country. The families of most of my students have limited to no resources at home to support their educational and academic needs. They are learning English as well as academic content, which is a challenge! They rely on their school to provide that support... All of my students are very excited to be back in school this year and are ready to learn!
"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." - Frederick Douglass
Most of my students struggle with reading and are below grade level in regard to their literacy skills in English. I invite you to assist me with their education!
My Project
These cleaning materials will be used by the students to keep healthy and remain in school. Schools are a great place to spread germs, especially with the youngest of students! This is why I intend to teach and reinforce the correct usage and disposing of tissues, hand washing, using hand sanitizer, and safely cleaning up.
Keeping germs at bay will help keep students in school to learn.
Students will have hand sanitizer and tissues nearby to use throughout the day. They will use the Clorox wipes to clean up their desks as needed.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
