My Project

When teenagers returned to school this year, we saw a population in crisis. Mental health concerns, academic struggles and a need to rebuild appropriate social skills and connections... all of this on top of homework, classwork, exams, projects, essays, job applications, college applications, baby-sitting siblings, and helping parents at home!

No one can work on an empty stomach.

With all the responsibilities that our students have, we want to encourage them to take breaks through the day, to recharge and refuel in a healthy, appropriate manner. Many kids also fall by the wayside and easily give up because staying in school for 6.5-8 hours is nearly impossible without appropriate snacks or meals to propel you forward. By providing students with snacks throughout the day, we aim to give students the energy and sustenance they need to successfully seize the school day. We also aim to build community by creating a snack center in our office where students are encouraged to stop by for their snacks, update us on their day, share any social or academic concerns, or just share victories from their day. The smallest things can make the biggest difference in a child's life.
