My Students

Dance costumes not only put the finishing touch on the dance, but they catapult the dancer's self-esteem tremendously!

Dance in my classroom is about uncovering and discovering a voice through movement and expression.

Students immerse themselves a multitude of ways that push them to new limits and challenge them physically and emotionally. My students are eager learners who are diverse culturally and socio-economically. Our school is a college preparatory high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is high-demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated low socio-economic status and we are deemed a Title 1 school.

My Project

I would love to have hangers to hang my dancers' costumes nicely in their costume closet. We need the "space saving" kind because our dance program is growing and that means we will need to hang more of our fantastic costumes. When I see my dancers dancing in their costumes for the first time I see their eyes light up and they get so excited. It reminds me of how special and confident I felt the first time I wore a dance costumes as a young girl. Instilling this type of confidence and self-esteem in my students is so important in my classroom. I teach far more than just dance steps; I aspire to impact my students' lives positively by showing them that I value them and they are worth wearing that fancy costume on stage.

Please help me preserve the costumes I do have and make room for new ones that I will order for our upcoming performances.

I would love to have some hangers to keep them nice and new for future dancers to use. Your generosity and donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
