"What does that say?" "What word did you write here?" "What number is that?" Countless times a day, I have students struggling to organize their handwriting and their work on worksheets in all areas: math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. It is so disheartening when a student spends lots of time completing their work, only to not be able to decipher it due to their handwriting.
Especially in third grade when students first learn cursive, having the correct tools to organize their handwriting on worksheets is important.
Worksheets do not come with lines or boxes underneath the story problems. This leaves the kids writing sloppily and unable to grasp the concept of organizing their work on the page. The stamps I am requesting would allow students to mark the blank spaces on their worksheets with lines and boxes to help them learn the skill of organization so they can complete their work accurately.
My students are also in need of new boxes for their reading books. These Book Boxes are used daily so that students have a place to store and transport the books they are reading. The bins are also a place where students store their writing. They will enable the kids to transport their writing projects with them around the room when sitting in collaborative groups for revising and editing.
The items I am requesting will positively impact all of my 30 students every day this coming school year. Handwriting is such an essential part of work completion and is used in all academic areas. It is also an important life skill that will be used by all students in their future careers. Your donation of these nonconsumables will be extremely impactful on my students' education not only this year, but for many years to come.
