My Students

I have 7, four year old, students in my class. We have 7 African American students that are all girls. We are an at-risk program located in Richmond. Many students come from low-income families and may have challenges to face at home; however, they come to school ready to learn!

Our students are curious, excited, and hard working!

They all learn in different ways, so we are constantly thinking of new strategies to teach them and get them ready for Kindergarten!

My Project

My students are currently learning at home. Being preschoolers, I want more hands on tools they can use with synchronous and asynchronous instruction.

Children of this age need to work on strengthening the muscles in their hand to encourage their writing skills.

To help them with these fine motor skills, I want to give them Play-Doh and buttons to lace. The buttons are also different shapes and colors so they can work on sorting.

Last, I want to give them the tools they need to succeed in fostering their writing skills. I want to provide them with a journal to use everyday, along with a whiteboard to practice writing their letters.
