Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in the classroom begins with a warm greeting, the scholars have breakfast and then we begin the day with music and movement. Afterward we settle down with a read aloud or shared reading. The ipads would make this portion of the day accessible to our ELLs.

Many of our students are transients and from one day to another they nor do we know what their living situation may be.

We have a large population of children with diagnosed and undiagnosed special needs, ESL, and immigrant scholars. We are in an extremely high needs area where 90% of the scholars qualify for free lunch. Despite their circumstances the scholars arrive to school ready and committed to work.

My Project

Our limited access to technology in our classrooms make the technology piece of the new STEM push virtually unattainable. The scholars will be able to use the iPads for interactive apps such as Starfall, which teaches them the alphabet, reading, and math.

As a Pre-K educator my job is to provide the children with a variety of rich experiences while maintaining certainty that I am mindful of their learning styles.

The requested items will enhance the classroom experience in that I will be able to include technology into lessons. Including technology will allow additional access to learning for the students who need additional support.
