My Project

I am a fourth/fifth-grade teacher and have a very diverse and high-poverty group of students.

How exciting would it be for my students to work as team members and collaborate with each other to build on STEM activities within our National Parks classroom?

My students are intrigued about the National parks and how cool it would be to implement and learn about science topics that go hand in hand with the STEM that are found within our National Parks. The goal is to explore glaciers, watersheds, wind turbines, elevation, and geographical locations and learn about a variety of animals along the way. The STEM challenges like the mechanical claw and electric wind cars will help students practice and understand how STEM correlates with these science terms in the National Parks and help build on important knowledge. Using the other items, such as regular items like foil, paper cups, and chenille stems, will allow my students to create STEM projects in the classroom.
