Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a self-contained, middle school, Autism class. I have four students, all which have varying degrees of Autism. I have three students whom are limited in communication, and one student who is non-verbal. My students are hard working and eager to learn.

My Project

Students with Autism learn best when they can engage all their senses. Having proper materials for them to use is absolutely essential to their learning. Students will be able to hypothesize and self-correct through hands-on experiences. These materials will enhance my students experiences with science. So, instead of just reading about them from their books, they can actually conduct them.

They will conduct experiments such as Floating soda, Moving pepper and Ocean in a bottle.

Through these donations such as the clear bins, my students will be able to conduct experiments such as sinking bottle vs. floating bottle. They will use the baster and the food coloring to conduct experiments such as Moving Water. Another experiment they can conduct with the jars from this donation will be the Guess What it is experiment. The magnets from this donation will be used to conduct the Magnet Pick-up experiment. The incline plane will be used by students when they see which classroom items will roll and which ones do not. These donations will give my students the hands-on learning experiences they need to see science come alive!
