Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students have had little science prior to 5th grade. Most of my class did not know that the sun was a star or that the Earth rotated around the sun.

My students are 86% free reduced lunch and come from many different countries.

I have students that are homeless, and those that are refugees. While they have lots of struggles, they are so excited to learn science. They love science time! They especially like hands-on science.

My Project

My class has three other kits by the same company. All of them have been educational and hands-on. The students have learned so much about magnetism and electricity. Actually, the kits have been so successful that I have started teaching science to all three 5th grade classes using them! I found three more kits that my students could use. One of them is on matter, another on body systems and the third one is on physical science. I know that these kits will be well used this year and for many years to come.

The videos make the ideas clear for my second language learners.

The hands on experiments are very engaging. These kits will be used in my classroom for many years. Your donation will help my students stay excited about science!
