Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At the end of the year, I want our middle school students to be progressing towards being college and career ready. I want my students to perform better than expected despite the belief that student performance will go down.

Our student population is 29% SPED, and 40% English Language Learners.

We receive daily new students arriving unaccompanied from South America. All of our students are eager to learn. All of our students can learn. We serve a needy community but we are filled with determination.

My Project

In our literacy classrooms, our philosophy is targeted differentiated instruction. Therefore, during small group instruction while some students are writing or working with a teacher, the other students will be using the technology to read and respond to text. I am requesting tablets because some of our language arts classrooms do not have any computers so having tablets that can connect to our wi-fi, students can access the digital version of their textbooks as well as e-reads through our extensive school and county library.

Students love to read using technology.

Our students will see the integration of technology in classroom and hopefully enjoy the reading process. Our students through programs such as Accelerated Reader that we use will reward them for their continued reading.
