Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My physics students are the best! They have such positive attitudes and personalities.

Our school's vision statement of "As we build on traditions of the past, we expect and accept nothing but the best" says it all.

We have a beautiful mountain range and a history that is unique to the state and it sets the backdrop for us each day. Our students have many life-altering challenges to go through but continue to push through. Our student population is one of the most impacted populations in our state. With a very high level of students participating in the free-or-reduced-price lunch program, there can be many challenges to learning that many other students don't even have to consider.

But we have an outstanding faculty, administration, and support staff that work tirelessly to help our students succeed and do their best. We embrace our vision and embrace growth in Academics, Citizenship, and Extra-Curricular Activities.

My Project

Science should be a hands-on process. But in today's world, many students are forced to learn in a virtual realm. While using a computer screen is helpful for some situations, having physical interactions with your content leads to richer learning environments.

These physics supplies will give tangible, hands-on learning to students who are confined to a virtual learning environment.

I want ALL of my students to be able to calculate their own velocities, the acceleration of gravity, forces around them, etc. While I do have classroom sets of equipment, I want to be able to check out materials to students that they can personally use at home throughout this pandemic. These supplies give the students who are learning remotely the ability to still interact, measure, and discover in a hands-on way just like the students who can still come to school.
