My Students

Let me tell you about my Awesome Second Graders.

I am a general education teacher at a public school in Brooklyn, NY.

I teach at a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced-priced meals. I currently teach 25 amazing second grade students in an integrated co-teaching setting who are completely remote. Please help me give these amazing children what the need to succeed while staying safe at home.

My Project

My students are 100% remote and have been since March. Therefore, they have missed out on a tremendous part of the first grade curriculum. Learning from home is already difficult so imagine how much more difficult it is to learn without access to the materials that they need. Having manipulatives at home will make a major difference when engaging in math instruction.

Manipulatives provide another representation for the mathematics being taught.

My students would benefit from these manipulatives to help them when adding and subtracting two-digit numbers. Especially since they already struggle with basic addition and subtraction.
