My Students

Kindergarten has grown far beyond nap time, recess, and macaroni art projects. While our rigorous standards require more and more of students, I want to keep learning as hands-on and playful for these five-year-olds as I can.

The Kindergarten students in my classroom attend a Title I school in Virginia.

They begin the school year at various levels, and I need many different materials so I may continue to challenge all of them. My students love hands-on materials and working together. I use guided math groups and centers to differentiate for my students.

My Project

The students will use linking monkeys and counting manipulatives to learn numbers 1-30. Egg shakers will be used to create auditory patterns. Graphing, measurement, and pattern kits will be used during independent math centers. These resources will help students develop math skills kinesthetically, without the use of papers or workbooks.

This is my third year teaching Kindergarten.

Donations to my classroom will be used this year and hopefully for many, many years to come. Please help my students start their school lives off with a strong foundation of skills and knowledge, and a love of math.
