This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you spare some change? With time at a premium, we need an organized way to manage classroom math manipulatives!

My 30 first grade students are eager learners and love to come to school every day.

All of my students receive free lunch, and many of these children lack basic necessities at home. Over half of my students are English Language Learners. Despite the obstacles my students face, they are respectful, hard-working, and dedicated to doing their best.

My Project

Our school day is short, and saving time whenever possible is key to maximizing opportunities for student learning. One way to do this is to have math manipulatives in individual packages, ready for use at a moment's notice. I am requesting a class set of hands-on money kits. Each kit supplies one student with a variety of pretend coins. By using these tools, students can engage with realistic coins to help make the difficult concepts of counting money and giving change more concrete. With individual kits, students can easily access the coins they need rather than waiting for me to pass out large, less organized containers of mixed coins to each table.

Your donation of individual, hands-on math manipulative kits will help my students maximize their learning time while allowing them to have access to more concrete materials for learning difficult concepts.
