My Students

My students refuse to allow poverty and being from an extremely rural area of our state limit their futures. They eagerly use the resources at hand to reach out and experience the world around them. My students fight to be success stories, and I always look forward to the amazing stories they write for themselves.

My Project

Hands-on math manipulatives will help make my lessons more engaging and interesting. When my students are actively involved in learning, their retention is increased dramatically. In addition, allowing my students to take learning tools home will help me extend the hands-on activities beyond the regular classroom setting. During the pandemic, while my students were at home, they lacked the hands-on tools necessary to participate in active learning activities.

By allowing my students to check out and take home math manipulatives, active learning can be extended to the home and shared with other family members.
