This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students have powerful voices and deep, thoughtful questions. Each comes to school with their unique strengths and challenges and we seek to meet them exactly where they are so they can thrive in school and in life.

Our students are creative, curious, kind, and ambitious.

We believe they deserve a world-class education and access to the very best opportunities. Our schools seeks to provide an inclusive place for students to take risks, feed their natural curiosity, and really love learning. We are committed as ever to our students and their well-being and development. Thank you for joining us in this work.

My Project

While some students pick up reading through mostly auditory and visual instruction, many students benefit from tactile experiences to help them manipulate letters, sounds, and words. The supplies in this project, including the flip-books and Catch-A-Letter activity allow students to have memorable, hands-on involvement. We will use these to teach letter-sound correspondence, sound blending, and other foundational reading skills. In my experience, even reluctant readers find activities such as these to be inviting, engaging, exciting, and accessible.

These activities will be used during family literacy nights, supportive small-group instruction for students who need extra attention in reading, and can be borrowed by teachers of any grade-level in the school to support any learner on our campus.
