My Students

When learning is fun, kids forget they are actually learning! Hands-on learning can help motivate and engage students while reinforcing skills.

Different students learn in different ways.

The students I work with respond very well when I use math manipulatives and games to teach and reinforce math concepts. I believe that EVERY student can learn. In order to maximize those learning opportunities I need to be able to provide a wide range of tools for my students to use on a daily basis. Unfortunately, we do not have enough to go around in our building. We are very short on resources. If my students could each have a set of Fraction/decimal math tiles in our classroom, I could use them to reinforce fraction and decimal equivalency concepts…..and so much more.

My Project

When students enter my classroom at the beginning of each year, I find that they enter 5th grade already worried about math. I have found that by utilizing math games and manipulatives in the classroom, it helps them relax and enjoy learning. Students are not only motivated and engaged in learning, they are learning social skills by communicating and working together in a cooperative learning environment.

When my students leave me at the end of the year, I want them to have the necessary skills for 6th grade.

It is important for me to have tools in my classroom that will allow me to reinforce skills on a daily basis.
