Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher in a Dual Language program in the Bronx. I currently have 32 students in my classroom! My students are all excited about learning Spanish, the majority of my students come from homes where English is the dominant language. It's so exciting to see how their little faces light up when they learn something new!

Given the situation with COVID-19, it’s more important than ever that children are provided with opportunities for hands on learning.

In order to provide exploration safely, students will need their own set of materials. Sharing materials will put them at a high risk of spreading Germs.

My Project

The materials identified will impact students' learning because they will be able to manipulate the math & reading manipulatives. Students will be able to use base ten to break apart numbers. Give the new normal students need materials that are interactive. The blend cards will allow students to hold the cards, place their finger under the words, and blend the sounds.

If students are learning from home, they will be able to have a visual representation.

For example, students will learn about decomposing numbers into ones, tens, hundreds. They will have the opportunity to see the teacher manipulating the base ten blocks throughout the lesson.
