This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the exciting opportunity to teach Kindergarten this year! I love the energy this age has to offer. They are little sponges thirsty for knowledge.

BES is a Title I school which means a large part of our children come from low income families.

70% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

To these children, school is life. They are exposed to opportunities they wouldn’t normally get at home. Their excitement for engagement and learning amazes me.

My Project

Kindergarteners need kinesthetic learning experiences. As a teacher, we are always trying to find ways to engage our students in meaningful activities and what little kid doesn't love play-doh?

Many of my students are English Language Learners and need the visual and hands-on part of learning for them to thrive.

Using play-doh along with letter mats and letter stamps, they can engage in a fun, hands-on way to learn English.

I will print out different shapes and letters, then insert them into the sheet protectors so the children can use these as mats for manipulating the play-doh. In addition, they will have the opportunity to use the stamps to use during word study activities. Hands-on learning is the best way for young children to learn.

I appreciate any help that donors can give to provide my students with this opportunity. Thank you!
