My Students

My students are the most amazing group of students I have ever worked with! They are a part of a program for children with Autism. All of my students have a variety of abilities that I love seeing every single day. Each child brings a unique set of skills to the classroom and I have the joy of helping them grow. They have reminded me every day why I went into teaching. They make me smile every single day. As a teacher, I want to provide them with the best education they can receive.

My Project

As a third year special needs teacher, I have come to learn that students learn best through hands on activities. I want to provide my students with the most effective strategies in order to learn basic school concepts. My students have a wide range of skills and my goal is to provide them with everything that they need in order to make progress throughout the school year.

By providing the students with an iPad, I will be able to engage them in varying activities on the device.

Students can use this as a tool to practice basic pre-writing skills or it can be used for choice time throughout the day. Students can use a variety of apps in order to practice tracing and to engage in academic concepts for a long period of time.

I also hope for other students in my classroom to develop a strong understanding of basic phonics and math skills. My hope is for some students to focus on basic literacy concepts such as practicing the alphabet, and letter sounds. I also hope to provide students with mathematics concepts such as addition, time and money. My goal is for my students is to be confident and master basic ELA and Math skills throughout the school. My hope if for them to make further progress throughout their years in school by focusing on the basics.

My group of students are inspiring to me and all I want is to inspire them.
