Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education kindergarten teacher in a Title I school. My students have very varied needs and I want to be able to make their learning more meaningful and engaging. My students greatly benefit from hands on activities and manipulatives.

My class is composed of 10 wonderful students who amaze me each and everyday.

My goal is to be able to provide my students with a hands on learning environment in which they are eager to learn and grow. My students are more willing to take risks when I can appeal to their learning style. Hands on activities and visuals allow my students to better understand. They are more willing to get involved in classroom discussions and activities when the lesson appeals to their learning style. It is a wonderful feeling to watch my students become involved in various activities.

My Project

These resources will make both literacy and math more engaging for my students. The sequence cards provide great visuals for the students to engage them and allow them to learn the importance of sequencing. We have worked so hard this year to learn the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes. These literacy games such as the clay letter stampers and the word sliders will allow my students to put this knowledge to use. Math is an area where my students are having great difficulties yet everyday we approach it with a positive manner and each day we move a little closer to our goal! I want to be able to help my students better understand numbers and their relationship with one another. The fact family house will allow me to do this for my students.

My project is so important because these students are so deserving.

They are working so hard and are so motivated. I want to continue to push them because I truly believe that they can and will achieve great things.
