My Students

I teach in a Title I school where 100% of the students qualify for free meals. Approximately one-third of my students are English Language Learners, some coming from monolingual families. All of my students have the potential to be anything they desire!

My students come from various backgrounds and cultures, but they all have one thing in common.

They all attend a school in which they are encouraged to learn new things and to take on new challenges. This year, I get the honor of teaching all content to my Fifth Grade homeroom students as well as reading to a class of Fourth Graders. It is my goal to provide each of my students a rich educational experience with opportunities to use technology in our 21st century classroom while still having plenty of hands-on learning experiences.

My Project

The Osmo is an innovative new gaming system for the iPad which allows for students to interact with the iPad using hands-on learning activities. The Osmo will transform the area in front of the iPad into an interactive surface for learning. My students will use the technology during our literacy station rotations and our math station rotations. The most impressive feature of this system is the ability for multiple students to use the device at once. This will make the learning stations more meaningful, as the students will interact with both the technology and each other!

With the addition of this technology to our classroom, students will have opportunities to learn and grow together while interacting with technology in more meaningful ways.

Students will become better critical thinkers. They will work through problem-solving strategies together. They will engage in shared learning experiences, and the students will be practicing 21st century skills while they use this technology. There are so many benefits to having the iPads and Osmo systems in our classroom!
