I work with 9th and 10th grade students in our life skills program. My amazing students have exceptional and unique educational abilities and needs. Some of my students are able to read whole words, while others read words with picture support. Many of my students enjoy using our class ipads to work on various skills such as counting, tracing, and other academic skills. I find that most of my students are less interested in working on these skills utilizing paper and pencils. My students enjoy using technology and I want to find other high interest activities to keep them engaged.
My Project
My students learn best with hands on learning opportunities. Unfortunately, due to covid we are not being allowed to go into our community to learn and practice our skills. As a result I need to create opportunities for them to practice various skills in our classroom.
I am seeking assistance from the community to allow me to purchase various activities to allow my students to practice skills that will get them ready for adulthood.
We are hoping to purchase activities to practice using tools, opening locks, hands on math activities to help them get ready for making purchases, and materials to help them practice their reading skills.
