Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year special education teacher at a Level One school, I’m dedicated to providing my students with the best opportunities for success, despite facing limited resources. My students are unique in that they come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide range of learning needs, but all share an incredible drive to grow and succeed. The tools I’m requesting—Lakeshore Early Language Activity Boxes, Building Language Lotto, Shape Sorting Center, and other hands-on materials—will directly support their development by making learning engaging, interactive, and tailored to their specific needs.

These items are designed to strengthen language skills, fine motor development, and cognitive abilities in ways that are both fun and educational.

The Lakeshore activity boxes, for example, will allow students to practice letter recognition, writing, and language-building tasks at their own pace. The magnetic mazes and sorting centers will engage their hands-on learning while improving problem-solving and fine motor skills, which are critical for students in my class. These materials are not just educational; they give my students the opportunity to learn through play, which is essential for building confidence and a love of learning.

My goal is to create a classroom environment where each child feels empowered to reach their full potential. With these resources, I aim to foster not only academic growth but also emotional and social development. My students are incredibly special because they each bring their own unique perspectives, strengths, and challenges to the classroom, and with the right tools, they can thrive. These materials will provide them with the foundation they need to succeed now and in the future.
