My Students

My student population is uniquely diverse in the DFW area. We have many nationalities, cultures, and abilities in our charter school. Being a charter school, our students choose to come to our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) based school. We are a Title I school with students that exemplify how to be the best of the best. Many of our students are on free or reduced-price lunches.

If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way they can learn." -Unknown.

The students that I work with are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. My students are always on the go and love learning in new and different ways. Each day my students come into my class eager about the day and spend time learning and exploring together. I teach coding and technology applications. All students benefit at my school, and there are no limitations from my gifted to most challenged students.

My Project

My school is starting its 5th year of having coding as part of our schedule. My students love anything that has to do with STEM classes. This project is to get a new and different coding activity onto their hands to help them understand what coding is all about.

The Matlab Coding Robot allows students to see the coding in real-time happen right in front of them.

They can move pieces around if they see a mistake and make their code work. The keys have basic arrows to start simple, and then the add-on pack listed will give students more advanced moves to try.
