As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
In my class I have students from countries all over the world.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students deserve to have available materials and amazing experiences. I want my students to want to come to school each day and keep them excited to learn, they deserve the best.
My Project
First graders love to learn with their hands! The products I have selected will help my students learn and create in my classroom. Engineering is one of my students favorite science units as well as free choice activities. They love to build and create with anything they are given. By adding Legos and Magna Tiles to our classroom they will be able to further their creativeness with building and engineering. Our library has some Magna Tiles and they love creating with them in there. We have also asked for iPad covers in this project. By getting i-pad covers the students will be able to use our 8 classroom i-pads independently. There are so many great ways to learn with technology and when our technology is protected appropriately we can use them the way we would like to in the classroom setting.
These new classroom materials will bring so much excitement to my students.
Their ability to learn will be improved for the better! Materials like Magna Tiles and Legos are not common for my students to have in their homes. By having exciting materials like these at school we are giving them new experiences and getting them excited to build and learn. It also benefits students socially when they build and create together. Learning to work together and have conversations is very important in the first grade. Our environment will be greatly enhanced both socially and academically by these materials!
