My Project

Our Birds Nest classroom supports a small and unique set of learners. Our self-contained special education classroom is a magical place where learning happens through play, exploration, and sensory experiences. Our students are bright, curious, and eager to engage with the world around them, but many face challenges in sensory processing, and self-regulation.

To help my little learners thrive, I want to create a Sensory and Motor Exploration Station which will serve as a dedicated area in our classroom filled with tools and activities to support their developmental needs.

This area will include sensory materials like rice, kinetic sand, textured materials, and motor resources like tunnels and sensory pads. I’m also requesting flexible seating options like comfy rocking chairs and bean bag chairs to give students the freedom to move and regulate their energy levels.

These resources will not only support academic growth but also help my students develop critical self-regulation and motor skills in a safe, nurturing environment. Every item in this project is designed to meet the unique needs of children with diverse abilities, creating a classroom where everyone feels supported and ready to learn.
