My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of fun ideas. They absolutely enjoy hands-on activities. These are 12 inquisitive young minds ranging from the ages of 8-10. Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood and is currently a Title I school that is beginning to transition into the Teachers' College Curriculum. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds; some are from low-income homes. Nonetheless, they are a spirited and very energectic bunch. My classroom consists of students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilties, and developmental and communicative delays.

Although it has been a couple of months since I entered the classroom, I am still struggling to keep my scholars focused.

I am working on meeting their learning needs by creating a space that provides the best educational experiences. This will be a space they can call a second home as they are encouraged to be themselves and try their best always. I believe students with special needs require an educational space with much differentiated instruction and the essential tools required to target their learning styles. I am thankful to have such great learners who are eager to learn.

My Project

My scholars absolutely love learning by expressing their creativity through art. The use of paints, brushes, pencils, headphones and a secure Tech Tub for their tablets will be appreciated.

The use of these materials will be almost a daily use in the classroom.

These paints, brushes, and paper will allow my scholars to see the world through painting while learning the difference between wet on dry and regular painting. Having pencils and papers are a must in this learning environment. Also, my students with sensory concerns and trouble adjusting to the noises will enjoy having noise-canceling headphones. This will help maintain their focus.

These supplies will make our classroom an even more active and learning environment where my scholars can really express themselves.
