My Project

Learning should be fun now that we are back in school. Kids need to hold materials in their hands and ask themselves questions about how things work. Students need a chance to work with concrete materials and not just chromebooks for their learning. Students will use the scientific method and work together to use growth mindset through science exploration. In order to master the Next Generation Science Standards, students need a chance to go through the scientific process and build with STEM projects. These materials will help with science standards. The students will learn about force by creating and building simple models and using models to represent events and design models(3-LS1-1).

Analyze and interpret data to make sense of phenomena using logical reasoning.

(3-LS3-1) Students will learn about magnets using the hands-on materials.

Part of STEAM is art and the students will use the art materials (pipe cleaners, craft sticks) to design and build through engineering.

Students will also use NVACS Reading standards RI3.1,3.5,3.10- to read nonfiction texts about the concepts we will learn about in science (forces, magnetism, engineering, circuits, and wheels and axles), and 3.W2- to write explanatory pieces about the science they are learning. I am excited to see the joy that they will have in person learning again. The wobble chairs will allow students to move around the room and not be stuck at their desk all day, but still be socially distant while working. Thanks for helping kids learn with concrete materials.
