My Project

What makes my students special is their diversity, eagerness to learn and creativity. My classroom is made up of various cultural backgrounds with students that speak more than 5 different home languages and have over 4 different religious backgrounds. All my students share a common curiosity and kindness that makes our classroom a warm and welcoming place. I believe this project will not only inspire creativity but also build connections between students as they learn to appreciate the many different ways people celebrate and express their identities.

For this project, I’m requesting supplies for holiday crafts that represent a variety of cultural traditions within our classroom.

These supplies will allow my students to create visual representations of holidays such as Eid, Kwanzaa, Thanksgiving, Diwali, Lunar New Year, Christmas, and more. By allowing my students to engage in these craft activities, they will not only develop their fine motor skills and creativity, but also gain an appreciation for the diverse cultures and traditions that make up our diverse classroom.

My goal for this project is to create an inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and appreciated for who they are, while also gaining insight into the lives and traditions of their peers. I want my students to walk away from this experience with a greater sense of empathy and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
